The water supply in Hildesheim is largely ensured by EVI Energieversorgung Hildesheim GmbH & Co.KG. The drinking water for the city of Hildesheim comes from the reservoirs in the Harz Mountains (Harzwasserwerke GmbH). The extracted water from the water protection areas in the Harz Mountains is treated in the waterworks of the Harzwasserwerke. Via two transport pipelines, the water is brought together in the elevated tanks in Petze and from there it is piped towards the city area.

The exact treatment processes can vary depending on demand and water quality. The aim is to bring the water to a high hygienic standard. The drinking water supplied in the supply area of the city of Hildesheim is a Harz water mix that is drawn from the Sösetal Reservoir and the Granetal Reservoir. It is of such high quality that it also meets the strict criteria for baby food. Regular controls by external institutes permanently guarantee the high quality standard of the water.
